Everything you need to know as a new driver starting your journey

📋Getting Your Licence

Learner's Permit

Apply online at Service NSW. You'll need to pass a written knowledge test on road rules and signs.

Display Your L Plates

Once you have your learner's licence, you must display L plates on the front and back of the vehicle.

Log Your Driving Hours

You need to log a minimum of 120 hours, including 20 hours at night.

Driving Test

Take your practical driving test at Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).

💡Tips for New Learners

  • Don't be nervous - we start slow and build up your confidence
  • Consistent weekly lessons give the best progress
  • When practising with family, a Supervising Driver must be present
  • Driving should be enjoyable - focus on having fun!
